Ethnic Distribution Graph
The Eritrean State
Eritrea is an example of both a multi-nation state and a multi-ethnic state. By definition, a nation is a culturally defined group of people with a shared past, common future, and the same political goals. Based on the graph above, it is evident that Eritrea is home to a variety of different ethnic groups. Oftentimes, nations share a culture and religion. Hence, this proves that the people of Eritrea have formed several different nations and ethnic groups. Furthermore, Eritrea is a prorupted state, meaning that a piece of the state protrudes from its core area. As a result, is it possible that eventually the protruded portion may want to break away. In addition, Eritrea borders the Red Sea, Sudan, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. Djibouti borders the Red Sea as well and one issue that may occur is a disagreement over where each country's territory ends.
The National Anthem
After a 30 year war, Eritrea gained independence from Ethiopia in 1993. During that same year, their national anthem, "Ertra, Ertra, Ertra," was written by Solomon Tsehaye Beraki. Later on, it was composed by Isaac Abraham Meharezghi and Aron Tekle Tesfatsion. The song was meant to reflect just how dedicated Eritreans were during their battle for independence.
Lyrics
PRELUDE:
Eritrea, Eritrea, Eritrea,
Her enemy decimated,
and her sacrifices vindicated by liberation.
1. Steadfast in her goal,
symbolizing endurance,
Eritrea, the pride of her oppressed people,
proved that the truth prevails.
CHORUS:
Eritrea, Eritrea,
holds her rightful place in the world.
2. Dedication that led to liberation,
Will build up and make her green,
We shall honor her with progress,
We have a word to her to embellish.
Repeat Chorus

Explanation
The lyrics of Eritrea's national anthem provide a perfect representation of their national history. Indeed, liberation was so important to them that they continued to fight a battle until their enemy, Ethiopia, was "decimated" after 30 years. When the people of Eritrea were treated harshly, they formed two major groups and showed extreme endurance. As stated in the last section of the lyrics, it seems that Eritreans have pride in their country and their dedication has freed them.
Flag of Eritrea
Symbolism
The green in the flag symbolizes the fertility of Eritrea, the blue represents the Red Sea, and the red is meant to stand for all of the blood that was shed in Eritrea's fight for independence. Additionally, the yellow wreath is very similar to the one that was displayed on the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) flag during the war.
