PING Eritrea Map
Description:
Based on Eritrea's location, I can infer that its accessibility to the Red Sea is quite valuable to them when importing and exporting goods. Also, further inland, there are several large rivers that Eritrea could use to its advantage and easily ship merchandise in and out of neighboring countries such as Sudan. Ease of transportation is another factor that would benefit from the multiple sources of available waterways. Furthermore, Eritrea's capital city, Asmara, is located near the center of the country where two major rivers end. Most likely, when the country was first developing, they chose that location for these reasons. On the other hand, Eritrea may face issues with agriculture. With only 6.8% of the country being arable land, Eritrea likely has to reach out to its trade partners for a majority of their food supply. Overall, though Eritrea is a relatively small country, its accessibility to waterways gives it an advantage over other inland countries and will contribute tremendously to the country's development.
